Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is taking a big step towards a greener future for their business. They’ve teamed up with Volvo Trucks, and a French logistics company called Capelle Transports to create a special electric delivery system.
Here’s how it works: Volvo CE builds electric construction equipment at their factory in France. Now, instead of using traditional gas or diesel trucks to haul these new electric machines to customers, they’re using electric trucks! This cuts down on pollution in two ways – once during the manufacturing process (because the construction equipment is electric) and again during transport (because the delivery trucks are electric).
This new program is part of a larger effort by Volvo to become more eco-friendly. Their goal is to reduce their indirect emissions by 30% by 2030. On top of the environmental benefit, Volvo says this new system also helps them load their trucks more efficiently, which is a bonus.
According to Hui-I Tsai, a bigwig at Volvo CE’s global outbound logistics department, this project is a major step towards making their entire operation more sustainable. So, next time you see a Volvo electric excavator rolling onto a construction site, remember – it got there with a green footprint thanks to Volvo’s electric trucking system!
