The Tesla Model S is known for going the long haul, but this one is a real champion. An Australian Tesla owner named Nigel Raynard recently shared his story of his 2018 Model S that racked up an incredible 413,000 miles on its original battery!
Even though the car was still running fine, Nigel decided to get the battery replaced under Tesla’s warranty after it started showing some warning signs. He wasn’t getting full power when the battery got low, and the car threw some error messages.
Nigel says he wasn’t exactly babying the battery. He regularly used DC fast charging stations, and he would often fully charge the battery and then drain it almost completely before plugging it back in. This is generally not recommended for battery health, but it seems it didn’t have a major impact on this particular battery.
This isn’t the only high-mileage Tesla story out there. There’s a Model S out there with over 1.2 million miles on it, but that one has gone through four battery packs. So, getting 413,000 miles on a single battery is definitely impressive!
