According to a report from The Information on Tuesday, Tesla has made some big changes. CEO Elon Musk sent an email to top managers, saying that two important executives are leaving. He mentioned that about 500 people who worked on the Supercharger electric vehicle charging network are also losing their jobs.

Musk explained that the reason for these changes is because Tesla’s sales are going down. He’s also not happy with how slowly they’re reducing the number of employees. Musk warned that more changes might happen soon and told his managers to take staff reductions seriously.

Rebecca Tinucci, who was in charge of Tesla’s Supercharger business, and Daniel Ho, who led the new vehicles program, are leaving. Musk wants to let go of everyone who worked under Tinucci and Ho, including the 500 people in the Supercharger team. This is surprising because Tesla’s Supercharger network is seen as a big advantage over other companies. As of January, Tesla had built 6,000 Supercharger stations with nearly 55,000 chargers.

Tesla’s public policy team, led by former executive Rohan Patel, will also be shut down.

Musk said that Tesla needs to be very careful about how many people they have working and how much money they spend. He wants everyone to take these changes seriously. According to Reuters, Tesla had 140,473 employees around the world by the end of 2023.

Ho started working at Tesla in 2013. He was in charge of the Model S, Model 3, and Model Y before taking over all new vehicles. Tinucci joined Tesla in 2018. Two other leaders, Patel and battery development chief Drew Baglino, said they were leaving earlier this month when Tesla also laid off more than 10% of its workforce.
