Tesla has lots of cars, but it’s not selling them fast enough. In the first part of 2024, it made more cars than it sold, about 46,561 more. So where do all these cars go? Some end up in parking lots.

One such place is the Chesterfield Mall near St. Louis. The mall is almost empty, and soon it will be torn down. But before that happens, the owner is letting companies use the parking lot for different things. Tesla is one of those companies. They don’t have enough space at their dealership to park all the cars they make, so they rent space in the mall parking lot.

According to Tim Lowe, a vice president at the company that owns the mall, there are about 300 Tesla cars parked there. But even though Tesla has cars sitting around, it’s still making more. Videos from its factory in California show cars coming off the assembly line one after the other. The same thing is happening at a Tesla parking area near a small town in Germany.

Tesla is also facing other problems. They had to lay off some workers, and their Cybertruck, a type of electric pickup truck, is causing headaches for some owners. There’s even a warranty that covers coolant leaks for the first 35 miles. So even though Tesla is making a lot of cars, it’s not all smooth sailing for them.
