Toyota is making a special version of the Crown sedan called the Nightshade Edition for the 2025 model year. This special edition has dark features on the outside and has been available for different Toyota models since 2019.
The Nightshade Edition is based on the Limited trim level. It includes black emblems, black door mirror caps, black exterior door handles, and 21-inch wheels with a matte-black finish. Other features like the multi-beam LED headlights, a panoramic roof, an 11-speaker JBL sound system, and driving aids are the same as the Limited trim.
Just like the Limited trim, the Nightshade Edition comes with a hybrid engine, which is one of two options available. This engine has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), two electric motors (one for each axle), and a nickel-metal hydride battery pack. It gives 236 horsepower to all four wheels, and the car can go from zero to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds. The fuel economy is excellent for a Toyota hybrid, with the Crown getting 42 mpg in the city, 41 mpg on the highway, and 41 mpg combined.
Another change for 2025 is that the top Platinum trim now comes standard with a head-up display.
Here are the prices for the different 2025 Crown models:
– Crown XLE: $42,535
– Crown Limited: $47,045
– Crown Nightshade Edition: $49,860
– Crown Platinum: $56,085
These prices include a $1,095 destination charge. Prices have gone up compared to the 2024 Crown models. For example, the XLE, Limited, and Platinum trims cost $41,145, $46,745, and $54,165 respectively, in 2023.
The 2025 Toyota Crown will start being delivered in the next few weeks. While there will soon be a new crossover model called the Crown Sigma, it’s uncertain whether the Crown Landscape model, which is a lifted, outdoorsy version revealed in Japan, will be sold in the United States.
