Subaru, the automaker known for its adventurous spirit and eco-conscious image, has been slow to embrace electric vehicles. They only have one electric car available so far, which seems strange for a company that aligns with nature lovers.
Subaru is finally hitting the gas on electric vehicles, but they’re not going it alone. They’re partnering with their long-time friend, Toyota, to develop 3 new electric SUVs by 2026. This makes sense because electric cars are expensive to create, and Subaru is a smaller company than Toyota. By working together, they can share the development burden.
This partnership is just one sign of Subaru’s growing focus on electric vehicles. They also plan to release four electric vehicles on their own by 2028, and they’re even making hybrid versions of some of their popular gas-powered models.
Subaru’s first attempt at an electric car, the Solterra, wasn’t a runaway success. Drivers complained that it couldn’t charge quickly and didn’t have a very long range. Hopefully, this new wave of electric vehicles from Subaru and Toyota will be more impressive!
