Almost famous: Meet BTS’ very own Pete Best, the man who was on the verge of joining the world's biggest boy band.

For a variety of reasons, Kim Ji-hun always remembers the summer of 2011.

Before becoming the smash-hit vocalists they are now, BTS, a South Korean septet, was just a group of youngsters practising in a basement in Seoul.

Kim, a dancer aiming to make the band's final lineup, was one of them.

In July 2011, he signed with what was then known as BigHit Entertainment after passing his trainee audition on the first try.

So began an arduous procedure in which he spent the most of his waking hours in the practise room with a dozen other trainees learning how to rap, sing, and dance.

But, over time, BigHit began cutting down the number of trainees in what appeared to be a random method, eventually reducing the number to seven people.

Kim was cut after more than a year of eating, sleeping, and exercising with the rest of the BTS members.

Kim has spent the previous ten years attempting to live a "normal" life while seeing his pals rise to the top echelons of fame

"Do I regret becoming a BigHit trainee? Not at all," he stated. "If I could, I would do it all again."
