Tesla Was Not The First Auto Driving Car!
The history of self driving cars dates back to the 1500s!
Leonardo da Vinci first developed a concept for a self propelling vehicle.
In 1945 an engineer developed a mechanical throttle for smoother rides through cruise control.
This invention by the engineer was patented and commercialized in 1958.
Later in 1977 Tsukuba Engineering in Japan produced a passenger car which could identify street lines.
Ernst Dickmanns in 1987 mounted a car with plethora of cameras and processors to detect obstacles in its path.
This was an important research and formed the basis for later self driving cars.
Finally in 2015 Tesla developed a fully functional autopilot feature in cars which allowed hands free driving.
