Lexus, known for its luxury vehicles, ventures into maritime opulence with its latest creation, the LY 680 yacht. Contrary to expectations, this isn’t an April Fools’ prank; Lexus truly offers yachts, crafted in collaboration with Taiwan’s Horizon.

Originally introduced as the LY 650 in 2018, Lexus has now upped the ante with the LY 680, establishing it as the new pinnacle of luxury. Stretching 20.66 meters in length, the LY 680 boasts an extended flybridge, complete with a lounge sofa and optional BBQ grill – perfect for those seeking a lavish nautical experience.

Mirroring Lexus’ Takumi craftsmanship ethos seen in its automobiles, the LY 680 elevates luxury to new heights, akin to the Lexus LM of the ocean. Embracing leisure, the yacht features a swimming platform at the stern.

It is ideal for docking jet skis or enjoying a refreshing dip. Powering the LY 680 are two Volvo Penta IPS engines, generating a combined output of 1789 kW, fueled by tanks with a 4012-liter capacity.

Regrettably, akin to exclusive Lexus and Toyota models, the LY range is currently restricted to the Japanese market. However, Lexus remains open to expanding its availability to additional global markets based on customer interest. For those aspiring to own this maritime marvel, be prepared to venture deep into your pockets, as the previous LY 650 ranged from US$3.74 million to US$4.85 million (A$5.76m to $7.48m), depending on customization options.

While the LY 680 sets sail as Lexus’ newest luxury flagship, the title of the brand’s most expensive model in Australia remains with the LM500h Ultra Luxury people mover, priced at $220,888 before on-road costs.
