ICOTY- Indian Car of The Year award is presented every year to the best newly launched car in India, the award was first given to the Maruti Suzuki Swift in 2006, and since then, it has been given every year to various cars. The Mahindra XUV 700 was the winner of this award in 2022.
Since its commencement, Hyundai as of now has won this award the most time, having seven titles, Maruti Suzuki has won this award four times, and Honda has won this award twice, the European car manufacturer Renault won this award in the year 2013 with its Duster that was manufactured in India.
It is an elite award that car manufacturers are eager to get it. ICOTY also gives out the Premium Car Award, first given in 2019 for luxury and performance cars, and the Green Car Award, which will be given in 2021 for hybrid and electric vehicles.

2010 Winner- Tata Nano
The Tata Nano is a compact city automobile produced and marketed exclusively in India by Indian carmaker Tata Motors and was launched at a price of RS.1 Lakh.
2011 Winner- Ford Figo
The Ford Figo is a subcompact hatchback manufactured in Chennai and Sanand by Ford India. The Figo, based on the Mark V European Ford Fiesta hatchback, was sold in emerging markets between March 2010 and 2021; it was launched at a base price of 3,49,900.
2012 Winner- Maruti Suzuki Swift
The Maruti Suzuki Swift (2011-2014) was the 2nd Generation of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and won the 2012 ICOTY award. Maruti Suzuki Swift was sold for the base price of RS 4.58 Lakhs.
2013 Winner- Renault Duster
Renault introduced the Duster in India on July 4, 2012, with certain revisions tailored to the Indian market. The suspension and undercarriage of the vehicle were improved to improve off-road capability.
2014 Winner- Hyundai i10 Grand
Hyundai’s i10 Grand was launched in India in 2013 and became the Indian Car of The Year Award winner in 2014; i10 was launched at a base price of 4.63 lakhs.
2015 Winner- Hyundai Elite i20
Hyundai Elite i20 was launched in 2014; it was set for sale at the price of ₹5,32,000 and was widely loved by Indians.
2016 Winner- Hyundai Creta
Hyundai Creta was launched in 2015, won the ICOTY award in 2016, and launched at a base price of 9,99,000.
2017 Winner- Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was launched in 2016 and won the Indian car of the year award in 2017, and its base price was 6.99 lakhs.
2018 Winner- Hyundai Verna
Hyundai Verna (facelift) was launched in 2017 and won the Indian car of the year award in 2018.
2019 Winner- Maruti Suzuki Swift
