Jeep has unveiled a special edition of its Gladiator pickup truck tailored to honor Texas, the largest truck market in the United States.
Named the Texas Trail, this special edition is based on the Sport S grade, positioned above the base Sport trim. It will be exclusively available in the Lone Star state and will feature unique features aimed at appealing to Texas’s passionate truck enthusiasts. Unfortunately, Jeep has only released a single image of the new model.
The Gladiator Texas Trail boasts black-painted 17-inch wheels wrapped in rugged 32-inch mud-terrain tires, enhancing its capability in challenging off-road conditions. With standard four-wheel drive and a part-time two-speed transfer case featuring a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio, the Texas Trail is primed for off-road adventures.
Distinctive exterior elements include model-specific graphics, such as Texas Trail decals on the hood and tailgate, paying homage to 1836, the year of the Texas Declaration of Independence.
In terms of color options, buyers can select from seven exterior colors: Bright White, Black, Granite Crystal, Hydro Blue, Firecracker Red, Anvil, and High Velocity.
The Texas Trail edition inherits all the standard equipment from the Sport S trim, including a body-colored hardtop, steel rock rails, keyless entry, power-operated windows and mirrors, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats and steering wheel, forward collision warning, and a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen.
Jeep has introduced side-curtain airbags for the first and second rows as part of the MY2024 update.
Under the hood, the Texas Trail is powered by the familiar 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. While the EcoDiesel option has been discontinued, there are expectations that Jeep will introduce a 4xe hybrid drivetrain in the future.
While the Texas Trail edition isn’t entirely new, having been introduced in 2021 with different color options and the now-discontinued diesel engine, it has proven popular, with Bill Peffer, head of Jeep brand North America, noting its success as the fastest-selling Gladiator model in Texas last year.
Pricing for the Texas Trail edition starts at $48,090, excluding the $1,895 destination fee.
For those outside of Texas, Jeep has also introduced Wrangler and Gladiator Beach special editions.
