The investigation follows multiple consumer complaints describing unexpected steering behavior that, according to vehicle owners, increased steering effort while driving.

Although the agency has not yet determined that a safety defect exists, the decision to launch a preliminary evaluation signals that regulators believe the reported incidents warrant a closer technical examination.

The investigation is still in its preliminary stages, and no recall has been issued so far. The NHTSA said it will assess the reported steering problems, determine whether they extend to a broader group of vehicles, and evaluate if the findings warrant further regulatory measures, including a possible manufacturer recall.

What Drivers Have Reported
