With the arrival of the Harley-Davidson X500 in the U.S. this year, enthusiasts are eager to witness its reception and longevity compared to its predecessor, the Street 500. While initial indications suggest promise, only time will reveal its fate in the competitive motorcycle market.

The X500, manufactured in China, offers a liquid-cooled 500cc parallel-twin engine delivering 47 hp and 34 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. Boasting adjustable suspension and weighing 459 pounds, the X500 targets novice riders seeking a balance of performance and accessibility.

Despite potential backlash from traditional Harley purists, the Motor Company recognizes the necessity of diversifying its lineup to attract new clientele and remain relevant. As the X500 garners attention on the custom bike scene, enthusiasts anticipate its evolution and potential for customization.

In Australia, Black Cycles embarks on a transformative journey with the X500, crafting a bespoke cafe racer named Project X. Led by Noel Muller, the team strips the X500 down to its core, replacing stock components with custom steel subframes and carbon fiber bodywork.

The result is a stunning fusion of form and function, with a redesigned rear end, custom fuel tank, and sleek carbon fiber accents exuding cafe racer aesthetics. Enhancements extend to the cockpit, with premium handlebars, mirrors, and digital instrumentation elevating the riding experience.

Project X’s striking appearance is complemented by performance upgrades, including suspension tweaks and a bespoke exhaust system, promising an exhilarating ride. With meticulous attention to detail and expert craftsmanship, Black Cycles sets a new standard for X500 customization, capturing the essence of motorcycle passion and innovation.
