Different carmakers have different experiences. BMW, for example, has been through a lot with its i3 model but is doing well now. In the first three months of this year, deliveries of its i4, iX1, and i7 models went up by 41%. BMW thinks that about 20% of all the cars it sells around the world in 2024 will be electric. That’s 5% more than last year.

Looking ahead, BMW has decided to work closely with Rimac Technology for a long time. They want to create new and better battery technology for BMW’s future electric cars. These batteries will have high voltage, which means they will be very powerful. But neither BMW nor Rimac has said what kind of cars they will use these batteries in.

Rimac Technology is a part of the Rimac Group, a company that has been making electric vehicle parts for over ten years. They have worked with many carmakers, helping them with things like hybrid batteries and powertrains for electric cars.

This partnership with BMW is a big deal for Rimac. They will have to make a lot of changes to their headquarters in Croatia to make it happen. They plan to build new production lines for batteries there. They want to be able to supply at least 100,000 batteries to carmakers every year by 2026.

This partnership builds on things that happened last year. Rimac had already been working on a new electric car platform called 46XX. BMW made a deal with a battery supplier in China to use the kind of batteries Rimac was planning to use in their platform. Later, Rimac and the battery supplier teamed up to work on Rimac’s platform together.

BMW has said that this partnership with Rimac won’t include their Neue Klasse cars, at least not right away. It seems like they’ll be focusing on making better electric car parts, like batteries and platforms, for BMW’s future cars.
