The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6, the second vehicle under Hyundai’s Ioniq sub-brand, is an eye-catching electric vehicle with exceptional performance, economy, and design.
It shares the same modular E-GMP platform with the Ioniq 5 crossover, allowing for different battery capacities and engine options. Here is all the available information about the upcoming Ioniq 6.
DESIGN
Inspired by the 2020 Hyundai Prophecy concept vehicle, the design of the Ioniq 6 has largely carried over. This sedan showcases a long, low profile with a fastback roofline and a minimal front overhang. The front fascia features active air flaps for enhanced aerodynamics and cooling, while a pixelated light signature spans the vehicle’s width.
The side profile draws attention to the sizable wheel arches capable of accommodating 18- or 20-inch wheels, as well as the sleek, flush door handles that can be deployed when needed. At the rear, a full-width LED taillight bar and a wing-shaped spoiler contribute to stability and generate downforce.
INTERIOR
The interior of the Ioniq 6 embraces a spacious and minimalist design, featuring a dashboard that incorporates two 12-inch screens dedicated to the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. These screens are thoughtfully angled towards the driver, enhancing visibility and ergonomics, and they offer seamless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for connectivity.
The infotainment system includes a real-time mapping that considers the car’s state of charge, along with over-the-air updates for various functions.
The center console of the Ioniq 6 boasts various features, including a rotary gear selector, a wireless charging pad, and a foldable Smart Table attachment equipped with three additional USB-C connections.
The chairs are designed with integrated headrest speakers, providing an immersive audio experience, and are constructed using environmentally friendly materials. Thanks to the flat floor and sloping roofline, the rear seats offer ample legroom and headroom.
PERFORMANCE
The Ioniq 6 will offer two battery options: a 58 kWh pack and a 77.4 kWh pack. The higher trim levels will feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, while the base models will have a single electric motor at the rear axle.
The AWD variants will deliver impressive performance, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.1 seconds, boasting 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque. Furthermore, the Ioniq 6 will come equipped with an EV Performance Tune-Up feature, enabling drivers to adjust settings such as steering weight, motor power, and accelerator sensitivity.
The Ioniq 6 will feature an 800-volt design, enabling rapid charging using a compatible 350-kW charger. Hyundai claims that the Ioniq 6 can achieve an impressive range increase of 186 miles in just five minutes when charging from 10% to 80%, taking less than 18 minutes. Additionally, the Ioniq 6 will provide Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, allowing users to power external devices or even their homes using an adapter.
SAFETY
The Ioniq 6 will be equipped with various active safety technologies, such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring, and more. These systems will rely on sensors and cameras located in a slim, black bar integrated into the vehicle’s front bumper.
Additionally, Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II), a semi-autonomous driving technology capable of steering, accelerating, braking, and lane changing on highways, will be featured in the Ioniq 6.
