Swapping LS engines into every possible vehicle has become tiresome, and it seems like the trend has now shifted to Ford Coyote motors. However, amidst the sea of predictable swaps, there are still innovators who opt for more unique combinations.

Tony Angelo, a former host of Motor Trend’s Hot Rod Garage, has embarked on an unconventional project with his team at the Stay Tuned YouTube channel. Rather than opting for the ubiquitous Coyote V8 swap in a Fox body Mustang, they’ve taken a different route.

Their project involves replacing the factory engine with a 5.9-liter Aston Martin V12, commonly found in the brand’s high-performance GT and sports cars since the late 1990s. Specifically, they’re using a V12 engine from around 2001, likely sourced from a V12 Vanquish or a similar-era DB7.

While the Aston Martin V12 may produce slightly less horsepower than a Coyote V8, the uniqueness and ingenuity of the swap make it stand out. Unlike the commonplace Coyote swaps, this V12 conversion required meticulous modifications to the Mustang’s engine bay, including custom tubular K-member and motor mounts.

The result is a one-of-a-kind restomod that defies convention and showcases the team’s engineering prowess. Despite the challenges and impracticalities, the project promises to deliver one of the most captivating Fox Body Mustangs of 2024.
