Aston Martin Introduces the Latest Safety Car for the 2024 F1 Season

Aston Martin has introduced its latest Safety Car for the Formula 1 2024 season, unveiling the new and enhanced Vantage sports car.

Leading the 20-car F1 grid for the first time, the British coupe will make its debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this weekend. While similar to the road-going model, there are notable differences in the Safety Car variant.

Powering the new safety car is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. Aston Martin has not made any engine upgrades, as the latest Vantage already boasts a 30% power increase. With an output of 656 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, the eight-cylinder engine propels the car from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 202 mph.

Addressing criticisms of its predecessor’s speed, Aston Martin has implemented bespoke aerodynamic enhancements. These include a more prominent front splitter, revised underfloor aerodynamics, and a new wing at the rear with a tuned Gurney. Even the roof-mounted lightbar has been redesigned for improved aerodynamics.

Internally, the Safety Car sees pragmatic modifications, such as the replacement of luxurious fixtures with Recaro Pole Position seats.

A new center console has been installed to manage FIA systems and display lap times, a rearview camera, and the track positioning of all race cars. Despite these practical changes, the vehicle retains a touch of luxury with Lime Essence interior details.

Painted in Aston Martin Racing Green, the Vantage Safety Car joins the DBX 707 Medical Car, symbolizing the brand’s dedication to motorsport and Formula 1.

Bernd Maylander, FIA Safety Car Driver, expressed his pleasure in driving the Aston Martin Vantage, emphasizing the car’s speed and focus, essential for quick and safe on-track deployment during emergencies.

The introduction of the Vantage Safety Car completes Aston Martin’s lineup, following the road-going Vantage, GT3 racecar, and GT4 racer with its innovative transmission.
