Porsche once entertained the idea of developing a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) tailored for families, exemplified by the Porsche Vision Renndienst concept unveiled in 2020 as part of the “Porsche Unseen” book.

Conceived in 2018 but kept under wraps until the release of “Porsche Unseen,” the Porsche Vision Renndienst embodies a futuristic aesthetic and minimalist design ethos.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic Volkswagen race service van of the 1950s and 1960s, the Renndienst reimagines the concept of a sporty MPV through Porsche’s distinctive lens.

Designed to evoke the appearance of a space shuttle, the Renndienst features a flat-fronted body, muscular wheel arches, and an asymmetrical window layout, epitomizing Porsche’s penchant for unconventional design elements.

Notably, its four-point headlights made their debut on this concept, later influencing the design of the Porsche Taycan, the brand’s inaugural electric vehicle. Inside, the Renndienst boasts a modular six-seat cabin configuration, with a central lounge chair reminiscent of hypercar interiors such as the McLaren F1 or Speedtail.

The van’s asymmetrical door layout further enhances its avant-garde appeal, complemented by touch controls and digital displays integrated seamlessly into the interior.

Powered by an all-electric drivetrain with a battery mounted beneath the floor for optimal space utilization, the Porsche Vision Renndienst represents a bold exploration of future mobility solutions. Although purely conceptual in nature, the Renndienst serves as a testament to Porsche’s innovative spirit and design prowess.
