The American automotive market witnessed several surprises last week. Firstly, Dodge unveiled two body styles for the upcoming Charger instead of one. Additionally, Rivian introduced a couple of new electric models alongside the confirmed R2 sport utility vehicle.

Dodge garnered attention with the announcement of the 2024 Charger Daytona, a two-door, all-electric fastback coupe touted as the world’s first EV muscle car. While some enthusiasts expressed reservations about the absence of a V8 engine, Dodge presented options catering to gasoline fans.

The 2025 Charger Sixpack offers a choice between the classic two-door fastback coupe and the returning four-door sedan body style. Customers can select from two variants of the 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six turbo mill, delivering either 420 or 550 horsepower.

Rivian’s event in California showcased the anticipated R2 model, resembling a more nimble and affordable version of the R1S SUV.

However, the highlight was the surprise reveal of the smaller crossover-hatchback R3 and its performance variant, R3X. The R3 drew significant interest, blending nostalgia with modernity and sparking creativity among digital car content creators.

For instance, one digital artist reimagined the R3X as a potential revival of the AMC Gremlin, prompting discussions about Rivian’s sources of inspiration.

Meanwhile, another virtual artist, known as abimelecdesign, envisioned the Rivian R3 paying homage to models such as the Lancia Delta Integrale, Volkswagen Golf GT, and Renault 5 Turbo.

Furthermore, David Scott Neal II proposed an extreme rally build for the R3X, while Nikita Chuicko explored aftermarket wheel options for the larger R2. These imaginative interpretations highlight the potential of Rivian’s latest offerings and the excitement surrounding their debut.
