Chinese-Built Mini Aceman Electric SUV Revealed Details And Specifications Revealed

Details of the upcoming Mini Aceman electric SUV, to be manufactured in China through a partnership with GWM, have been revealed in Chinese government documents.

According to reports from Car News China, the Mini Aceman will come in both base and flagship S variants, as indicated by documents submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Both variants of the Aceman will share dimensions, being 1754mm wide, 1515mm tall, and riding on a 2606mm wheelbase. The overall length will vary slightly between 4076mm and 4094mm, depending on the variant. This places it in a size range similar to the outgoing five-door Mini Hatch.

The documents also mention a range of wheel sizes, including 17-, 18-, and 19-inch options, along with design features like a slim front grille and the iconic Union Jack tail lights.

The S grade of the Mini Aceman will be distinguished by yellow ‘S’ badging and silver front and rear skid plates. Powering the base Aceman will be a 135kW electric motor, while the Aceman S will feature a 160kW front electric motor.

These motors will be powered by 40kWh and 54.2kWh batteries, respectively. Interestingly, this powertrain setup mirrors that of the new electric Mini Cooper hatchback, which shares the same Spotlight electric vehicle (EV) platform developed by BMW and Great Wall Motor (GWM).

Although Mini’s Australian division has not confirmed any plans to introduce the Aceman to the local market, the brand has ambitious goals for its EV sales. Mini aims for 50% of its sales to be from EVs by 2027, with plans to transition to an all-electric lineup by 2030.
