Zeekr, the sister brand of Polestar and Volvo, is set to introduce an electric people mover aimed at challenging the Volkswagen ID—Buzz in the Australian market. The latest offering from Geely’s emerging Zeekr electric vehicle (EV) brand is a rounded people mover designed to rival the iconic Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

Dubbed the Zeekr Mix, details of the vehicle have emerged from a filing with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), as reported by Car News China. The Zeekr Mix is expected to cater to private buyers in Europe and China, potentially serving as a version of the company’s Waymo robotaxi.

With dimensions measuring 4688mm in length and riding on a substantial 3008mm wheelbase, the five-seat people mover presents a spacious interior. Notably, it shares similarities in width (1995mm) and height (1755mm) with distinct styling cues borrowed from the recently unveiled 007 sedan.

The Zeekr Mix is equipped with a 310kW electric motor, akin to the rear-wheel drive configuration seen in the 007 model, and utilizes Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), also employed in other Zeekr models and the Volvo EX30.

While specific battery details and range specifications are yet to be disclosed, reports suggest that Zeekr has collaborated with CATL to develop battery packs for the Mix. It is anticipated that the vehicle will be available in right-hand drive and launched in the UK market by 2026, with an official debut expected at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show.

Zeekr is scheduled to make its entry into the Australian market in 2024 with the introduction of a larger people mover, the 009.

In China, the 009 is offered with battery options ranging from 116kWh to 140kWh, supplied by CATL, boasting claimed range figures of up to 822km. Featuring a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup generating 400kW of power and 686Nm of torque, the 009 shares similar dimensions with the LDV MIFA 9.

As part of the Geely group, which also encompasses Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus, Zeekr represents the latest addition to Geely’s expanding portfolio of premium electric vehicles. Established in 2021, Zeekr initially debuted with the 001 electric fastback, previously showcased under the Lynk & Co brand in concept form.
