In August 2023, the second-generation M2 made its mark on the legendary racetrack, clocking an impressive 7:33.90 lap time with BMW M development engineer Jorg Weidinger behind the wheel.

Seven months later, Sport Auto’s Christian Gebhardt achieved a commendable 7:38.23 lap time on identical Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires used in BMW’s initial test, albeit on a slightly shorter 20.6-km configuration of the Green Hell.

Despite differing track lengths, both tests showcased the M2’s prowess. Equipped with 275/35 R19 tires upfront and 285/30 R20s at the rear, automatic-equipped M2s were used for testing due to the ZF 8HP’s rapid shifts. However, enthusiasts favor the manual transmission for its superior engagement.

Available in Black Sapphire Metallic, Alpine White, or Zandvoort Blue, the 2025 BMW M2 is slated for production in August 2024, with anticipated power enhancements. Reports suggest a power boost to 475 horses, promising heightened performance.

With new wheel designs and potential M2 CS and Competition Sport variants on the horizon, BMW’s iconic M2 is poised for further evolution.
