The Rivian R1S undoubtedly stands out as one of the premier battery electric full-size SUVs available today, boasting impressive range, ample space, and stellar performance. Despite its appeal, selling a used R1S at present could prove challenging without accepting a loss.

Electric vehicles like the R1S were never expected to appreciate over time. Therefore, the initial surge in pricing seen in the used market merely represented a short-lived phenomenon akin to an inflated bubble.

Originally introduced in 2022 with options for two or four electric motor configurations and spacious seating for seven passengers, the R1S shares its platform with the R1T pickup, ensuring formidable acceleration capabilities.

Rivian vehicles offer surprisingly refined interiors, characterized by a minimalist dashboard design and an overall serene atmosphere comparable to renowned brands like Volvo, a noteworthy achievement for an EV startup.

Turning attention to a specific 2023 R1S – an Adventure Edition model with quad-motor configuration – priced at $82,300 upon purchase. Following an auction last summer, it fetched $91,000, yielding a profit of $8,700.

However, recent attempts to sell the vehicle failed to meet its reserve, with the highest bid reaching $73,500, despite its 4,100-mile usage and a cracked windshield.

Considering similar R1S models sold recently on the used market, $73,500 seems a fair price despite the seller’s expectations.

Equipped with features like a Midnight exterior finish, Black Mountain vegan leather upholstery, and a potent quad-motor setup producing 835 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque, the R1S promises unmatched performance and luxury.
