Rivian’s strategic revealing of the R3 and R3X models alongside the R2 launch proved to be a brilliant maneuver. Beyond impressing investors and analysts with their plans, Rivian successfully piqued the interest of potential R1S and R1T buyers who had not previously considered the brand’s offerings. Now, faced with the opportunity to make a purchase, it’s crucial to seize the moment.

Currently, the most affordable R1T stands at an MSRP of $69,900, while the R1S starts at $74,900 before taxes and fees, both in their dual-motor plus standard battery configurations without upgrades. Additionally, both models qualify for half of the federal EV tax credit.

Opting for a lease with Rivian presents even more enticing benefits. Rivian offers a “capitalized cost reduction,” effectively converting the EV tax credit into an upfront payment to reduce the total lease cost. Remarkably, Rivian can slash $7,500 off the lease amount, equivalent to the full EV tax credit. Notably, Rivian differs from Tesla by providing a buyout option.

Leasing options for the R1T or R1S are accessible to residents in select states across the U.S. For those who reserved an R1T early, pricing starts at $55,920 before incentives, or $48,420 for eligible customers who choose to lease, with a dual-motor R1T boasting a range of 270 miles on a single charge.

Moreover, customers who place preorders between specific dates are eligible for a significant discount or pricing voucher. This offer extends until the end of September, providing ample time for consideration. However, Rivian sweetens the deal further by offering an additional $5,000 discount in states where leasing is possible, alongside reports of complimentary paint upgrades.

While the current offers are compelling, potential buyers may also consider waiting for the upcoming refresh, expected to bring minor but welcomed improvements to both the R1T and R1S.

With an end-of-quarter push, temporary factory shutdown for retooling, and Rivian’s eagerness to engage early customers, there’s a confluence of factors driving this opportune moment to acquire a new R1T or R1S. Buyers should act promptly or risk missing out on these exceptional offers.
