Dodge, though a shadow of its former self, has still pleased the muscle car enthusiasts over the years. With various bold takes on the classic Challenger, including the renowned Hellcat variants culminating in the Demon and Demon 170, Dodge has maintained its appeal.

Recently, Dodge has expanded its muscle car lineup with a new addition, departing from the Challenger nameplate to embrace the more traditional Charger designation. Beyond the standard two-door coupe, Dodge now offers a four-door sedan, a familiar move but with a twist.

What sets this apart is the introduction of electric versions alongside the traditional internal combustion engine models, making it the first and only battery-electric muscle car on the market. This move leaves the Ford Mustang, with its reliance solely on internal combustion engines like the 2.3L EcoBoost and 5.0L Coyote V8, trailing behind. Meanwhile, General Motors’ sixth-gen Chevy Camaro has been discontinued, leaving uncertain prospects for its return.

Anticipation surrounds the forthcoming replacement for the current Durango, scheduled to debut as a 2026 model. Reports suggest it will feature a range of electrified powertrains alongside traditional internal combustion engines. Despite the lack of test mules or prototypes, renderings circulating online, such as the one from Theottle on YouTube, give enthusiasts a look at what to expect.

Utilizing elements from the BMW XM and the latest Charger, these renderings present a compelling vision for the future Durango, highlighting its sporty and muscular design. However, whether this visual interpretation resonates with consumers remains to be seen.
