The safety recall affecting the 2023 Colorado and Canyon midsize highlights a concerning issue regarding front wheel hub bolts. General Motors identified a potential risk stemming from overtightened bolts, potentially leading to deformation and subsequent loosening or breakage during vehicle operation.

While the affected bolts themselves meet quality standards, the assembly process at the Wentzville plant in Missouri may have inadvertently caused deformation. The recall encompasses 17 trucks, including 14 units of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and 3 units of the 2023 GMC Canyon, produced within specific date ranges.

General Motors swiftly addressed the issue by instructing dealers to replace over-torqued front wheel hub bolts at no cost to customers. Owner notifications are scheduled to commence on May 13, 2024, reassuring affected owners of prompt resolution. Despite this setback, General Motors remains committed to ensuring vehicle safety and implementing necessary measures to uphold quality standards.
