Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kallenius showcased the capabilities of the upcoming battery-powered EQG, the electric version of the G-Class, at the Mercedes testing ground in snowy Sweden. The demonstration highlighted the vehicle’s stability on slippery terrain, facilitated by the 360-degree “G-Turn” feature powered by four electric motors. Kallenius also exhibited the on-ice acceleration from 0-100 km/h, albeit noting the slower time due to the icy surface.

The video, featuring host Marie Serneholt, captured Kallenius behind the wheel demonstrating the electric G’s prowess on snowy tracks through enthusiastic maneuvers. He particularly emphasized the “G-Turn” as the standout feature of the electric G-Class. Despite the slower acceleration on ice, the EQG is expected to outperform its ICE-powered counterparts, such as the G63, on regular roads.

Mercedes-Benz previously teased the EQG’s off-road capabilities with a video showcasing its ability to navigate through deep mud waters. The anticipation builds for the official unveiling of the “go-anywhere” all-electric SUV, expected to occur later this year.
