In 2024, a pivotal transition unfolds for Bentley Motors Limited, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group, as the iconic Continental GT bids farewell to its trademark W12 engine in favor of electrified powertrains.

Originating with the D2-generation Audi A8, production of the famed engine ceases in April 2024, culminating with the limited-run Batur, boasting a formidable 740 horsepower and 738 pound-feet (1,000 Nm) of torque derived from the Continental GT platform.

Emerging as the indirect successor, the Audi-Porsche V8, renowned for its 4.0-liter capacity, assumes prominence, augmented by plug-in hybrid technology, delivering 729 horsepower and 700 pound-feet (950 Nm) in the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.

While sharing similarities with the Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, the 2025 Bentley Continental GT PHEV distinguishes itself with bespoke features, including an E MODE button for electric driving, redesigned taillights, and sportier front bumpers, evident in recent spy shots.

Driven by an Audi RS 4 Avant-derived 2.9-liter V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain, delivering 536 horsepower and 553 pound-feet (750 Nm), the Continental GT PHEV promises enhanced efficiency and performance, aligning with Bentley’s commitment to electrification.

With the forthcoming MC20 Folgore slated for 2025, Bentley’s comprehensive electrification strategy targets full electrification across its lineup by 2028, heralding a new era of sustainable luxury motoring.
