1965 was a banner year for Chevrolet’s full-size Impala, which set a new record by becoming the first U.S. car to sell over 1 million units in a single year. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Nova was gaining traction among domestic buyers.

Initially launched without a V8, the Nova took a significant turn in 1965 when it incorporated a 327 small-block engine, transforming it into a formidable compact vehicle. This upgrade was particularly appealing to those opting for the Nova SS, especially since the car had begun its journey with aftermarket V8 modifications.

Recently, a 1965 Chevy Nova (lacking SS badging) appeared on eBay with a promising proposition. It was discovered by the seller’s father in a barn in West Virginia, and it’s now looking for a new owner to raise it to pristine condition. The seller, sbaisden, has been commendably transparent, providing detailed descriptions and numerous photos that reveal some cosmetic flaws.

The seller mentions that the Nova has been repainted in Candy Apple Red, a shade not originally available for the 1965 Nova, which offered only Regal Red, a quite different hue. This color was used on earlier models like the Impala within the decade.

Despite these issues, the Nova is in relatively good condition and could serve as a solid foundation for someone looking to restore a 1965 model to its former glory. While a Nova SS would generally be more sought after, this four-door version presents a viable project with potential for improvement.

The car is listed on eBay without a reserve, so the highest bid will win it at the end of the auction, which is set to conclude in five days. The opening bid is set at $4,000, and so far, there are no bidders, possibly because potential buyers may want to inspect the car in person first. If you’re interested in seeing the Nova yourself, you would need to visit Olmsted Falls, where the car is currently located, before the auction ends.
