Scheduled to hit dealerships in the latter part of 2025 for the 2026 model year, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV draws inspiration from both the mid-size EQE and the larger EQS in its exterior design.

Taking cues from the forthcoming CLA EV as well, it enters a competitive market, facing off against contenders like the BMW i3’s third generation, set for series production in November 2026. Codenamed NA0 for the sedan and NA1 for the wagon, this new i3 iteration follows the G28, exclusive to the Chinese market and based on the long-wheelbase version of the 3 Series.

Spotted with German plates during testing in Stuttgart, the C-Class EV differs significantly from its internal combustion counterpart beneath the surface. Instead of the MMA platform of the next-gen CLA, it adopts the MB. The EA-S platform can also be found in the GLC EV.

Manufacturing electric drive units for the MB.EA platform will take place at several Mercedes-Benz plants, with battery production and assembly set for specific locations as well. Expected to offer at least two drive setups, the C-Class EV is anticipated to feature an 80-kWh battery, positioning it as a luxurious alternative to the Tesla Model 3 Long Range.

While visually distinct from its ICE counterpart, the C-Class EV may not adopt the EQ nomenclature. However, rumors suggesting the demise of the EQ branding should be dismissed, especially considering the upcoming fully electric SL slated for 2028.

Following its release in late 2025, Mercedes-Benz plans to expand the lineup with at least one high-performance version, potentially named the C-Class EV AMG, utilizing MB.EA underpinnings.
