After nearly two years of teasing, we got behind the wheel of the super-powerful Lucid Air Sapphire. This electric car is like a work of art that can move incredibly fast. It’s more than just fast, though; it’s also efficient, setting a new standard for luxury electric vehicles.

Lucid Motors has been known for making super-efficient electric cars with crazy performance, but so far they’ve only had one model: the Air sedan. While they’re still working on getting their name out there more, the Air itself is impressive. All the different versions get amazing range and come in a sleek, luxurious package.

Lucid just released their 2024 Air models, which include a new rear-wheel-drive version of their base model (Air Pure) and a Grand Touring version with even more range. We’ll talk about those cars another time, but today we’re focusing on the king of the Lucid lineup (and maybe even all electric cars): the Air Sapphire.

This special Sapphire version has three motors and boasts some ridiculous performance numbers. We’re talking going from 0 to 60 mph in less than 2 seconds, 0 to 100 mph in under 4 seconds, and a top speed of over 200 mph!

So, why would anyone need a car this fast?

The reviewer thinks anyone who asks that question is a bit silly, but mostly they say Lucid built this car to show off their amazing technology. This super-expensive electric car (it costs a quarter of a million dollars!) isn’t meant for everyday drivers. It’s more like a muscle car for the future, a way for Lucid to say “Look what we can do!” to other car companies.

The reviewer doesn’t pick sides in the electric car competition, but their job is to test drive these incredible vehicles and tell us all about them. They’ve been asking Lucid for ages to let them drive the Air Sapphire, and finally, the day arrived! They documented their whole experience, including their honest reactions when they floored the gas pedal (well, the electric car equivalent).

Lucid Sapphire: A reviewer’s experience

The reviewer got the chance to test drive the Lucid Air Sapphire, and they say it’s the fastest car they’ve ever been in. They were invited to visit Lucid Motors and check out all their 2024 Air models, including the Sapphire. While they were excited about trying all the cars, the Sapphire was definitely the star of the show. Lucid even let them drive it first!

The moment the reviewer pulled out of the parking lot, they felt the insane acceleration of the Sapphire. It was so fast, they completely missed their first turn and ended up driving a few miles in the wrong direction without even realizing it! They swear they have good navigation skills, but this car was just too distracting. The rest of the day was spent testing the Sapphire on winding roads and wide-open straights around Half Moon Bay.

This car is super smooth to drive, no matter the speed, angle, or drive mode you choose. But there’s a catch – you need to know what you’re doing behind the wheel. This car is like a wild horse – it can be fun to ride, but it will try to throw you off if you’re not careful. The reviewer even admits to being a little nervous at times!

The video review shows the reviewer’s genuine reaction when they floored it on a straightaway. Their body language totally changed, and they got tense! Even the 1,111 horsepower version of the Air seemed crazy fast, but this Sapphire edition is in a whole different league.

The reviewer admits they might have broken a few speed limits while testing the car (they promise they were safe!), but the acceleration is truly unmatched. You can basically pass any car you want, anytime you want, with no hesitation. This car is seriously quick!
