Mercedes-Benz introduces updates to its all-electric compact SUVs, the EQA and EQB, aiming to enhance their appeal as they prepare for launch in Australia. Last summer, the premium German automaker revealed mid-cycle facelifts for both the EQA and EQB models, marking their evolution.

Now, as they make their way to new markets, they arrive in Australia with a fresh variant, the EQA 250+, starting from AUD 84,900 (MRLP), and the EQB 250+ from AUD 89,100 (MRLP), remaining below the country’s Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold.

In terms of USD, these prices translate to approximately $55k and over $57k, respectively, which, though substantial, are somewhat mitigated by market factors. For instance, the Mercedes EQB 250+ base variant in America starts at a lower $52,750 MSRP. Nevertheless, the pricing reflects the nuances of each market, and despite not being budget-friendly, these Mercedes EVs offer considerable value.

The EQA and EQB 250+ variants boast an improved driving range compared to their predecessors, along with enhanced standard equipment and convenient charging options. Notably, the EQA 250+ sees an increase of 54 km (33.5 miles) in range, totaling 578 km (359 miles), while the EQB 250+ gains an additional 57 km (35.4 miles), reaching 564 km (350.4 miles) though it’s essential to note that these figures are based on the NEDC system.

Under the hood, both the EQA and EQB 250+ feature a single electric motor delivering 140 kW (188 hp) and 385 Nm (284 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a 70.5-kWh battery pack. Meanwhile, the more potent EQA 350 4Matic boasts dual electric motors producing 215 kW (288 hp) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque, albeit with a slightly reduced range of 489 km (304 miles) due to its smaller 66.5-kWh battery pack.

As Mercedes-Benz continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup, the EQA and EQB represent significant strides towards sustainable mobility, offering a blend of performance, range, and luxury characteristics of the brand.
