Hold onto your hats, electric car fans! Polestar’s all-new electric SUV, the Polestar 4, is getting ready to take on Hyundai and Kia in their own backyard. This summer (June), the Polestar 4 will set wheels on Korean soil, marking its debut in a key global market.
The Polestar 4 has been busy traveling the world! Production kicked off in China back in November 2023, and earlier this year, it was introduced in Europe and Australia. Prices vary depending on location, with the starting price ranging from around $53,700 in Australia to $68,500 in Europe.
North American drivers got a glimpse of the Polestar 4 at the NY Auto Show last month. Here’s the exciting news: the US starting price is set at $56,300, slightly lower than the expected $60,000 target. The base model boasts an impressive range of up to 300 miles and goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.4 seconds. Looks like the competition in the electric SUV market is about to heat up.
Polestar 4: More Power, More Options
The Polestar 4 isn’t just about one model – it offers choices for different driving styles.
Looking for more muscle? The Long Range Dual Motor option starts at $64,300 and boasts a range of up to 270 miles. This powerhouse packs 544 horsepower and can zip from 0 to 60 mph in a scorching 3.7 seconds.
If you crave extra features, you can add the Plus and Performance packages, bumping the price up to $74,300. There are also optional Pilot and Pro packages available to further customize your Polestar 4 experience.
Polestar Takes on Korea’s Home Turf
We mentioned Korea earlier, but here’s the inside scoop: Polestar is setting up shop right there! Last year, they announced plans to manufacture the Polestar 4 at a factory in Busan, South Korea. This will be the first electric vehicle ever built at this facility, and the cars produced here will be shipped to both Korea and North America.
Get ready for a Polestar invasion (in a good way) this June! That’s when the Korean market will officially welcome the Polestar 4, with deliveries expected to begin in October.
This electric SUV will be the second one from Polestar to hit Korea, following the Polestar 3. One thing that truly sets the Polestar 4 apart is its unique design – it doesn’t have a traditional rear window. This design choice allows for more interior space while maintaining a sleek look. A rear camera system ensures you still have a clear view of your surroundings.
While the driving range for the Korean market hasn’t been finalized yet, Polestar is aiming for an impressive 379 miles (610 km) based on the WLTP standard. One thing’s for sure – expect the Polestar 4 to be priced above $55,000, positioning it as a premium option compared to Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles.
