Kia has taken the wraps off the Kia Tasman, its much-awaited pickup truck, revealing a striking camouflage design inspired by the rugged environment of Australia. Named after Tasmania, the island off Australia’s southern coast, the Tasman represents Kia’s inaugural entry into the C-segment pickup truck market.

In collaboration with acclaimed artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop from Australia and New Zealand, Kia developed a unique camouflage wrap themed around ‘The Path Never Taken’, capturing the Tasman’s adventurous essence. Influenced by Australia’s diverse terrain, the design reflects Boyd-Dunlop’s experiences hitching rides across the country’s coastal and outback regions.

Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design, emphasized Tasman’s adventurous spirit and Kia’s commitment to innovation. He praised Boyd-Dunlop’s exclusive design, which depicts a journey of discovery and embodies the Tasman’s essence of adventure.

Boyd-Dunlop, known for his bold artistic style, blended fiery outback hues with commanding blues, symbolizing Australia’s vibrant surf culture. His design resonates with personal experiences and reflects the joy and adventure integral to Australian culture.

Scheduled for a 2025 debut, the Kia Tasman will launch globally in phases, with initial availability in key markets such as Korea, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East. Designed to meet both work and leisure needs, the Tasman promises reliability, performance, and versatility for customers with diverse lifestyles.

Kia released a short film showcasing the intricate details and design inspiration behind the Tasman’s camouflage concept. Despite the vibrant camouflage, the video offers sneak peeks of the truck’s silhouette, chunky tires, and distinctive headlights, hinting at its robust capabilities.

While specific details about the Tasman’s specifications and potential availability in the U.S. remain undisclosed, Kia’s teaser image provides an exciting preview of what’s to come, sparking anticipation for its official debut and subsequent global rollout.
