More than two decades have passed since the original debut of the BMW X3, with subsequent generations launched in the intervening years, the latest being in 2017. Aware of the swift pace of the automotive industry, BMW is preparing to introduce the fourth-generation X3.

Prototype sightings have teased enthusiasts, offering looks at the design beneath the camouflage. Renderings based on these sightings reveal an evolutionary approach to the exterior styling. Notably, BMW appears to be addressing criticism of the oversized grille, opting for a more conventional size. The headlamps feature updated designs, including new daytime running light signatures.

In line with current trends, the lower bumper adopts a layout with a central air intake flanked by vertical slats. The familiar BMW roundel adorns the hood above the grille. While the rear design maintains continuity with its predecessor, every element, from the taillamps to the tailgate, has been refreshed.

Underneath, the fourth-generation X3 sits on an updated version of the CLAR architecture. Chassis improvements promise enhanced comfort and handling. While powertrain details remain undisclosed, expectations include 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel engines with mild-hybrid technology, alongside a plug-in hybrid variant.

Regarding the debut, BMW has yet to confirm an official date. Speculation points to a potential revealing before the end of the year or possibly in August. With anticipation building, the next-generation BMW X3 aims to set new standards in the premium compact crossover segment, likely accompanied by a modest price increase compared to its predecessor.
