GWM has revealed its latest Cannon Alpha range in Australia, featuring the nation’s first-ever hybrid ute alongside diesel variants. The Cannon Alpha lineup starts at a competitive $51,990 drive-away for the Lux diesel model, while the hybrid option is priced at $64,990 drive-away.

These vehicles, slated to debut soon, represent a step up from the existing Cannon Ute, boasting larger dimensions, enhanced towing capacity, luxurious interiors, and a potent turbo-diesel engine. Despite the industry buzz surrounding hybrid offerings, GWM remains cautious about confirming arrival dates for the new models.

The Cannon Alpha range distinguishes itself with its versatility and performance, featuring torque-on-demand four-wheel-drive systems and a range of powertrain options, including the Lux Diesel priced at $51,990 Drive-Away, the Ultra Diesel at $57,990 Drive-Away, and the Ultra Hybrid at $64,990 Drive-Away.

The diesel variants are powered by a robust 2.4-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, delivering 135kW of power and 480Nm of torque. In contrast, the hybrid model boasts a formidable 2.0-liter turbo-petrol hybrid four-cylinder engine, generating an impressive 255kW of power and 648Nm of torque.

Efficiency-wise, the GWM Cannon Alpha achieves 8.9L/100km with the diesel engine and 9.8L/100km with the hybrid powertrain, making it an economical choice for drivers. In terms of dimensions, the Cannon Alpha measures 5445mm in length, 1991mm in width, and 1924mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3350mm. It offers ample space and towing capacity, making it suitable for a wide range of tasks.
