Antonio Filosa, the head of Jeep at Stellantis, recently confirmed the anticipated updates for the 2025 Jeep Gladiator. Following the discontinuation of the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, Jeep will introduce a plug-in hybrid configuration based on the 2.0-liter GME turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a proven powertrain already utilized in the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe models.

Speculation surrounding the 2025 Gladiator began with a revealing Facebook cover photo in June 2021, showcasing the interior of the Rubicon 4xe variant. Subsequent developments, including a ratified labor contract with the United Auto Workers in November 2023, further solidified plans for a PHEV upgrade, aligning with Stellantis’ investments in US-based production facilities.

Jeep enthusiasts can expect the official revealing of the fuel-efficient truck later in 2024, sharing the plug-in powertrain with the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Anticipated enhancements may include a more potent electric drive unit and increased battery capacity, improving both performance and electric-only driving range.

With Samsung SDI America Inc. serving as the battery supplier for the Wrangler 4xe, Auburn Hills emerges as a pivotal location for Stellantis’ electrification initiatives. The plug-in system, comprising two electric motors and a high-voltage battery, promises robust performance and off-road capability, synonymous with the Jeep brand.

While details regarding fuel efficiency and pricing are forthcoming, the 2025 Jeep Gladiator 4xe aims to offer a compelling blend of electrified powertrain technology and legendary Jeep capability, catering to environmentally-conscious adventurers and off-road enthusiasts alike.
