In the timeless clash of American muscle, the epic duel between a Ford Mustang Mach 1 and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat was a scene straight out of a rivalry’s playbook. Though set in the modern era, the spirit harked back to medieval times, with each contender vying for supremacy in a quarter-mile drag race.

As anticipated, the Hellcat roared to victory, leaving the Mach 1 trailing in its wake. With a swift 11.11-second sprint and a speed of 123.63 mph (198.96 kph), the Challenger showcased its dominance. In contrast, the Mustang lagged behind, clocking 13.47 seconds and a speed of 108.66 mph (174.87 kph).

The Mach 1, a storied nameplate dating back to 1969, bid farewell in 2024, making way for the formidable Mustang Dark Horse trim. Priced at just over $60,000, this beast boasts a 500-horsepower 4th-gen Coyote NA V8 engine, with options for a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic gearbox, for a total of $67,000.

On the opposing side, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat exudes confidence with its 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine. Starting at $71,295, the base model delivers 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. For those craving even more power, the $91,300 SRT Super Stock cranks out a jaw-dropping 807 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque.

In the showdown between the Mustang and the Hellcat, raw power reigned supreme. Yet, amidst the thunderous engines and screeching tires, there were no excuses. Both contenders lined up for the race, leaving no room for blame or conjecture, just pure, unadulterated American muscle battling it out on the asphalt.
