Two years ago, a serious accident involving a high-performance German car occurred on Highway 141, a two-lane road near Norwood in southwest Colorado. According to the San Miguel Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened in mid-2022 during the 2022 Crown Rally.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S was reportedly traveling at over 140 mph (225 kph) when it veered off the road, jumped a fence, and rolled multiple times. Tragically, the crash resulted in the deaths of both occupants, aged 43 and 38, who were ejected from the vehicle. Their names were not disclosed.

Before the accident, a Facebook post showed the car looking pristine. After the crash, images shared on X by the San Miguel Sheriff and on azcycleparts’ Instagram earlier this week revealed the vehicle’s devastation. The salvage company listed whatever components they could save on their eBay store, sparking considerable debate.

Some social media users argued against profiting from a car involved in a fatal accident, while others maintained that it’s just business. The crash left the 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S resembling a hatchback from some angles. The engine was torn off, and all body panels were severely damaged. Despite the extensive damage, the front of the car remains somewhat recognizable, though it’s hard to tell it was once a fine 911 Turbo S.

Interestingly, the engine, which also suffered significant damage, is available for sale. With some repair work, it might still be operable. The latest Porsche 911 Turbo S features a 3.8-liter flat-six engine with twin turbos, producing 640 horsepower (477 kW) at 6,750 rpm and 590 pound-feet (800 Nm) of torque from 2,500 to 4,000 rpm.

Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (97 kph) in just 2.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 205 mph (330 kph) on summer tires. This model has a starting price of $230,400.
