Check out the details on the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 electric car! This guide breaks down how far it can go on a single charge, how much energy it uses, and how much it costs.

There are three main versions of the ID.4: one with a smaller battery (62 kWh) and two with a larger battery (82 kWh). The smaller battery version can go 206 miles on a charge. The larger battery versions can go either 291 miles (rear-wheel drive) or 263 miles (all-wheel drive). The increase in range for the larger battery versions is mostly because of a new type of motor they use.

The smaller battery version uses more energy than the larger battery versions, even though it has less range. This might be because of small changes made to the car.

Here’s how much energy the ID.4 uses:

  • Smaller battery (62 kWh): 107 MPGe (This means it uses the equivalent of 3.2 miles per kilowatt-hour of electricity)
  • Larger battery, rear-wheel drive (82 kWh): 113 MPGe (This means it uses the equivalent of 3.4 miles per kilowatt-hour of electricity)
  • Larger battery, all-wheel drive (82 kWh): 102 MPGe (This means it uses the equivalent of 3.0 miles per kilowatt-hour of electricity)

The ID.4 starts at $39,735, but after considering tax credits and US production it can effectively cost as low as $33,660. There are also higher-priced versions with more features.

Even though sales were down in the first few months of 2024, the ID.4 is expected to be a popular electric car again this year, just like it was in 2023.
