The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, known for its exceptional speed, has been transformed into a convertible by Droptop Customs. As Dodge doesn’t offer a convertible version of this muscle car, enthusiasts send their new Demons straight from the production line in Brampton to the Florida-based custom shop for the conversion.

Jeff Moran, owner of Droptop Customs, led the project and has even converted his own Demon 170. The process involves more than just removing the roof and pillars; additional aluminum bracing is required to maintain body rigidity. The new canvas top operates with the push of a button and is stored in the trunk without taking up too much space.

The Dodge Demon 170, powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 HEMI engine, produces an astonishing 1,025 hp and 945 lb-ft of torque on E85 fuel. This power allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.66 seconds, complete a quarter-mile in 8.91 seconds, and reach a top speed of 215 mph.

The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has banned it from drag racing without a roll cage and parachute due to its speed. Despite its impressive specs, the conversion adds $23,999 to the car’s price, which was already $96,666 MSRP. However, one such customized Demon 170 fetched $242,000 at a Mecum Auction, indicating a high demand for this unique convertible.
