Jeep has some big plans in the works for the next year and a half. They’re getting ready to introduce some new electric models and make some changes to their existing lineup. One thing they’re working on is bringing back the Jeep Cherokee, a nameplate that’s very important to the brand.
There’s been talk about the new Cherokee for a while now. Back in 2022, people were expecting it to come out in 2024 or 2025. Now, according to a report from an Italian newspaper called Il Sole 24 Ore, it looks like we might hear an official announcement about the new Cherokee by the end of this year.
But we should take this news with a grain of salt, as the CEO of Jeep, Antonio Filosa, only said it’s “probable” that the new Cherokee will arrive next year. We’ll have to wait and see if it actually happens.
The report suggests that there’s a chance the new Cherokee could be built at a plant in Italy for the European market. Stellantis, the company that owns Jeep, has been talking to unions and government officials in Italy about production plans. They’ve already confirmed that the plant will build five other vehicles, including models from Citroen’s luxury brand and Opel.
For the North American market, the new Cherokee is expected to be built at a plant in Mexico. This plant currently produces the Compass, but it will also start making other models soon.
The new Cherokee is expected to be bigger than the current model and will come with some fancy features, like a trim level similar to the Wagoneer. It’s going to be based on a new platform that will make it larger than the old Cherokee, possibly as big as the Dodge Journey.
As for the price, experts think it will start at around $40,000, which is similar to the price of the current model. Despite production ending for the 2023 Cherokee, there are still some available for sale.
