Five years after the Golf GTI Clubsport 45’s debut and several teases later, Volkswagen finally revealed the new model. Along with a redesigned engine and other improvements, the 2017 Golf GTI has the most recent external design found on the ID.7 and Passat.

An electronic front differential and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission complement the Clubsport’s engine to provide effective power distribution during acceleration. With the optional “Race” pack, the Clubsport’s electronically regulated peak speed may be increased to 166 mph (267 kph).

Despite not breaking the Nurburgring record held by the Honda Civic Type R S, the 2025 VW Golf GTI Clubsport is designed for track enthusiasts with its unique “Special” setting for the Green Hell.

Its 19-inch alloy wheels have a new design, and the lightweight “Warmenau” rims weighing only 17.6 pounds apiece are an option. Drivers will enjoy the familiar interior feel of the new infotainment system, a sports steering wheel with leather upholstery, and ChatGPT integration inside the cabin.

Regrettably, the US market will not receive this model; aficionados will now have to settle for the revised all-wheel-drive Golf R, which is anticipated to produce more than 320 horsepower.
