While Europe has dominated Formula One championships since 1958, with England, Italy, Germany, Austria, and France all boasting winning constructors, the United States has never achieved this feat.

Despite valiant efforts from teams like Shadow and Team Penske, who have secured race victories, the constructors’ trophy remains elusive for American hopefuls.

However, the dream of an American F1 champion wasn’t without its early chasers. Debuting in 1960, the team, with drivers Richie Ginther, Lance Reventlow, and Chuck Daigh, participated in five events.

While qualification or race finishes remained elusive in most outings, Daigh secured a 10th-place finish at the Riverside Grand Prix, etching the Scarab’s name as the first American constructor to both compete and finish a Formula One race.

Remarkably, one of these three historic vehicles is prepped for a new owner at the upcoming Monterey 2024 auction. Restored by original engineers and boasting a prestigious racing history, this iconic single-seater awaits a new chapter on the track, potentially fetching a significant sum despite an unsuccessful 2022 auction.
