The 1969 Dodge Charger, a legendary muscle car, is often associated with the iconic General Lee, but its Daytona variant is equally impressive. Known for its exceptional speed, the Daytona initially featured a 440ci big block engine.

However, a limited number of customers sought even more power, opting for the legendary 426 Hemi. One particularly rare Daytona, believed to be modified by a dealer, reportedly received a 440ci engine rated at 390 horsepower. Beyond the Daytona, the Charger offered a diverse range of engine options, including a six cylinder 225ci unit.

While the slant six was less popular, the V8 engines, such as the 426 Street Hemi, were highly sought after. Approximately 400 Chargers were equipped with the Street Hemi in 1969. The Charger in these photos is powered by a 383ci engine and paired with an automatic transmission.

Although the transmission is functional, it will require inspection and potential maintenance before roadworthiness. The car’s exterior appears in good condition, despite sitting in a barn for approximately 20 years. Rust damage is evident on the floors and trunk, but the structure remains solid. A thorough inspection, including lifting the car to examine the undercarriage and frame, is essential to assess its condition.

The Charger, a classic car that has been in storage for years, is up for auction. Despite its age, it’s in remarkably good condition, considering its long period of inactivity. The owner is offering several spare parts, including bumpers, and the bidding starts at a modest $100. While no one has bid so far, the auction is expected to gain significant attention in the coming days.

The biggest challenge in restoring this car lies in the interior, which requires extensive work. The seats, in particular, are likely beyond repair, but more details can be determined during a physical inspection. However, the condition of the Charger, especially for a classic that has spent decades in storage, suggests that it could be a rewarding restoration project.

With its potential for a successful restoration and the availability of spare parts, the Charger presents an excellent opportunity for someone looking to invest time and resources into a classic car. The low starting bid and the lack of a reserve price make it even more appealing to potential buyers.
