Stellantis is celebrating the impending end of the Dodge Durango lineup with a series of special-edition SUVs, the latest being the 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Brass Monkey. This new variant features distinctive brass wheels, a satin-finished hood, and a luxurious brown leather interior. However, aside from these aesthetic enhancements, it doesn’t offer significantly different features from other Durango Hellcats, leaving some enthusiasts wanting more from this commemorative model.

The announcement of the Brass Monkey edition follows a pattern set earlier this year when Dodge revealed plans to keep the Durango available in 2024, even as other models like the Charger and Challenger were being phased out. The brand previously introduced special editions such as the “AlcHEMI” for the SRT 392 and the “Silver Bullet” Hellcat Durango. These releases have fueled speculation about the Durango’s future while also celebrating milestones, such as the 20th anniversary of the first Durango equipped with a Hemi engine.

Interestingly, none of the recent special editions are directly tied to the discontinuation of the Durango Hellcat. Instead, they commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Hemi-powered Durango, which debuted in 2004. Back then, the thought of a Durango producing a staggering 710 horsepower would have seemed unfathomable to buyers, highlighting how far the model has evolved over the years.

Despite the celebratory nature of these limited editions, there’s no indication from Dodge that they plan to continue producing V-8 Durangos beyond the 2025 model year. The focus appears to be on honoring the legacy of the Durango while winding down production. For those who are drawn to the special features and performance of these high-powered SUVs, the Brass Monkey variant and its counterparts are currently available for order, with a starting price of $115,315.

As the Dodge Durango approaches the end of its production run, these special editions serve as a farewell tribute to a model that has undergone significant transformation and performance enhancements. With their unique styling and high horsepower, the Brass Monkey and other variants aim to leave a lasting impression on enthusiasts and collectors alike, even as the brand shifts its focus toward new offerings in the future.
