The new 4Runner shares its structure and engine with the Land Cruiser, but its pricing covers a wider range. The base version of the 2025 4Runner starts at $40,770, while the highest-end versions go above $66,000.
Only buyers who really want all the features will likely spend that much on the top trims, but across the range, the 4Runner is expected to be a very dependable vehicle. It has been rated well for predicted reliability by several industry sources, and so far, there’s only one complaint reported by an owner in the NHTSA system.
Toyota Camry (eighth generation)
Toyota gave the Camry a fresh update for the 2025 model year, but the older version might still be a smart option, even for buyers who can afford something brand new.

The newest Land Cruiser for the U.S. is a new version of Toyota’s long-running SUV, but it’s not the same as the older full-size models. It’s based on the Land Cruiser Prado, which is sold in other countries, and it shares its structure with the newest 4Runner.

When it first came out in 2024, the Land Cruiser had a special First Edition trim, but that’s no longer being offered. For 2025, buyers can choose between two trims: the Land Cruiser 1958 and the top-level Land Cruiser.

We thought both the engine and the off-road performance were good enough to deserve the Land Cruiser name. On the other hand, its comfort and interior features while driving on regular roads didn’t impress us as much, especially for the price
. Still, people don’t usually buy a Land Cruiser for how it drives on city streets or for its tech features — they buy it for how tough and reliable it is, and the J250 seems to continue that tradition well.
Toyota 4Runner (fifth generation)
Even though the newest 4Runner brings better technology for entertainment and safety and comes with a newer engine setup, many buyers might not be interested in that.
