What truly distinguishes a classic restomod’s value? Is it a specific model, year, or engine swap combo that guarantees top dollar at auctions? Or perhaps it’s the narrative behind the vehicle that adds to its allure.

In any case, this 1954 Chevy truck embodies all the hallmarks of a remarkable restomod: a fantastic model, vintage year, a potent engine swap, and an intriguing backstory.

While classic Chevy 3100 half-ton pickups may not be as instantly recognizable as their Ford counterparts, they offer ample opportunities for customization.

However, the restoration undertaken by Metalworks Speed Shop in Eugene, Oregon, elevates this Chevy 3100 to a level beyond the ordinary. Starting as a mere heap of metal parts in a garage, this truck underwent a remarkable transformation.

Despite the wear and tear on its body panels, the truck found new life with the installation of a robust Art Morrison GT Sport chassis, providing a solid foundation for further enhancements.

Powered by a 376-cubic inch (6.2 L) GM LSx V8 crate motor, equipped with a Holley intake manifold and Ultimate headers, this truck boasts formidable performance.

Coupled with a custom 2.5-inch dual exhaust, the LSx engine delivers upwards of 500 horsepower, channeled through a beefed-up 4L80E four-speed automatic gearbox and a nine-inch rear axle.

The truck’s performance is complemented by modern suspension components, including a triangulated quad-link suspension with Strange coilovers and Wilwood disc brakes on all corners, ensuring exceptional handling and stopping power.

However, it’s not just about performance. The truck’s matte grey paint job, matched with a color-coordinated leather interior from Jon Lind Interiors, exudes a six-figure show truck aesthetic.
