Restomod projects continue to attract automotive enthusiasts worldwide, offering a blend of classic aesthetics and modern performance. Among these, the Volvo P1800 Cyan GT stands out as a prime example of this concept.

Similar to Singer, Cyan’s custom P1800 builds are tailored to individual preferences, with each project taking between 12 to 15 months to complete. Recently, Cyan provided a sneak peek into one of their latest Volvo P1800 Cyan GT creations, showcasing a remarkable transformation.

The restoration process begins with a donor car, stripped down to its chassis, which Cyan engineers reinforce with high-strength steel and upgrade with an updated independent suspension. Following an anti-corrosion treatment, the chassis receives a new carbon fiber body, finished in a striking deep red hue complemented by sand-colored upholstery within the interior.

Powering the vehicle is a bespoke 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, generating 350 horsepower, paired with a five-speed Holinger transmission. Cyan replaces the factory wiring with a modern loom featuring a custom CAN-bus-based PDM-controlled system.

Remarkably, only a few original P1800 components, such as the taillights and hood latch, remain after the extensive build process. While the interior switchgear resembles the original, Cyan replicates them to maintain authenticity.

In this particular build, the customer opted for additional sound-deadening material, enhancing comfort during extended drives. While Cyan has not disclosed the cost of this commission, previous P1800 resto-mods have been priced around $700,000, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail invested in each project.

Despite the exclusivity and price tag, Cyan’s Volvo P1800 Cyan GT serves as a testament to the enduring allure of classic cars reimagined for modern roads. Whether cruising on the open highway or making a statement at a car show, vehicles like these continue to capture hearts wherever they go.
