On June 23, Ford will compete in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) with its innovative SuperTruck. This powerhouse, derived from the F-150 Lightning, features a rear wing capable of producing 6,000 pounds (2,721 kilograms) of downforce at 150 mph (241 kph).

The vehicle has undergone significant visual and technical enhancements, including prominent spoilers and air vents on the front fenders. Behind the wheel will be Romain Dumas, who set the Pikes Peak record with a Volkswagen ID.R electric prototype. The goal is to break time records on the 12.5-mile course in Colorado Springs.

Although this truck is not a preview of any upcoming Ford production models, it was purpose-built for this specific race and will be on display during the qualifying sessions from June 18 to 20, with the main event on June 23.

In 2023, Ford’s SuperVan 4.2, boasting 1,400 horsepower, finished just seven seconds behind the whole winner at Pikes Peak, suggesting that the SuperTruck is expected to deliver comparable performance.

Additionally, the trend of electric vehicles at Pikes Peak continues with Hyundai’s entry of four Ioniq 5 N Time Attack cars, each with 687 horsepower, aiming for records in the Electric Production SUV/Crossover and Electric Modified SUV/Crossover classes.
